BOATING ACCIDENT ON GILLHAM LAKE

On December 18, 2010 at approximately 1:12 P.M. the Howard County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a boating accident on the Gillham Lake.  Arkansas Game and Fish Officer John Partain responded along with Deputy Joey Davis to the scene.  Officers learned that two brothers were in the upper end of Gillham Lake scouting for ducks when their boat motor hit something in the lake and caused both of them to be thrown from the boat.  The operator of the boat was Trevor Durham 25 years of age of Conway, Ar.  and his brother was the passenger in the boat and he is Jakeb Durham 21 years of age of Rolland, Ar.  After the two were thrown from the boat the propeller on the motor hit the back of Jakeb and caused injury to his back.  Jakeb was air lifted to the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana for treatment.  The boat was a flat bottom type boat with a 25 horse power motor on it.
