Deputies make more drug arrests this weekend

 

 

On June 9, 2013 at approximately 1:40 A.M. Deputy Travis Turner was patrolling on Hwy. 70 west of Dierks.  Deputy Turner stopped a blue van for having a headlight out.  Deputy Turner observed the passenger of the vehicle moving around inside while he was stopping the vehicle.   After stopping the vehicle, the passenger identified as Candace Lawrence w/f dob-5/17/1982 of Hot Springs, admitted to Deputy Turner that she had drugs on her person.  Deputy Turner arrested Candace Lawrence for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Formal charges are pending and no bond has been set at this time.

  

On June 9, 2013 at approximately 10:00 P.M. Deputy Steven Wakefield stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 27 N. for a light violation.  The driver was identified as Kirk R. Wright w/m dob-2/1/1985 of Murfreesboro and the passenger was identified as Alton C. Mitchell w/m dob-5/29/1995 of Murfreesboro.  While Deputy Wakefield was patting down the driver he found suspected methamphetamine in the left front pocket of the driver.  Deputy Wakefield asked the passenger if he had any drugs on him and the passenger gave Deputy Wakefield a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Howard County Jail awaiting formal charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.  No bond has been set at this time.
