On December 24, 2013 around 2:00 A.M. Deputy Steven Wakefield was patrolling on Hwy. 27.  Deputy Wakefield stopped a gray van for a traffic violation and obtained consent to search the vehicle from the driver.    A passenger in the back seat of the vehicle was arrested after Deputy Wakefield found a clear plastic bag containing a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine.  Deputy Wakefield arrested Gage R. Gonzales w/m dob-12/28/1992 of 4850 FM RD 1735 Mt. Pleasant, Texas for Possession of a Controlled Substance---Methamphetamine and transported him to the Howard County Jail.  Mr. Gonzales admitted that the drugs found by Deputy Wakefield were his.   No bond has been set at this time.
