Justin D. Hopkins arrested on drug charges by Deputy Travis Turner

 

On March 6, 2014 at approximately 9:30 P.M. Deputy Travis Turner was patrolling near Mineral Springs on Hwy. 27.  Deputy Turner observed a vehicle traveling north driving on the shoulder of the road.  Deputy Turner made a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Justin D. Hopkins b/m dob 7-1-1989 of 562 Barton Bethel Road Mineral Springs, Ar.  Deputy Turner asked Hopkins why he was driving on the shoulder of the road and Hopkins stated that he was not use to driving that vehicle and something was wrong with the steering.  Deputy Turner obtained consent to search from Hopkins and as Hopkins was exiting the vehicle Deputy Turner noticed a bulge in Hopkins left front pocket.  Deputy Turner asked Hopkins what was in his pocket and Hopkins pulled out a clear plastic bag containing a crystal rock like substance believed to be methamphetamine.  Deputy Turner found a clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and 920.00 dollars in cash on Hopkins.  Deputy Turner found a set of digital scales in the middle console of Hopkins vehicle.  Deputy Turner arrested Hopkins for Possession of a Controlled Substance: Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Purpose: Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Hopkins was transported to the Howard County Jail.  The bond for Hopkins has been set at 50,000 dollars.
