Deputy Steven Wakefield was traveling on State Highway 27 when he noticed a Chevrolet pickup driving on the shoulder and swerving in and out of the north bound traffic lane. Deputy Wakefield stopped the pickup for the traffic violation and identified the driver as William H. Worthington of Nashville. Deputy Wakefield noticed a rifle in the front passenger’s seat of the pickup. During a conversation with Deputy Wakefield, Worthington admitted to having marijuana in his pocket. Deputy Wakefield searched the pickup and found two pill bottles inside a flashlight containing over one-hundred different kinds of pills. Deputy Wakefield searched Worthington and found a glass smoking pipe and a clear plastic container in Worthington’s sock. The container had a clear plastic bag inside it with suspected methamphetamine inside the bag.
Worthington appeared in the Howard County Circuit Court on Wednesday morning for a first appearance. Worthington’s bond was set at $5000.00.
