The Howard County Sheriff's Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at the store in Umpire

The Howard County Sheriff’s Department received a call around 9:58 P.M. on Sunday December 4, 2011 from the owner of the store in Umpire that someone had broke into the store and stole some cigarettes.  Deputy Blake Eudy responded to the call and took the report. 

On December 5, 2011 the Howard County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey who stated that they had arrested three subjects for attempting to rob the La Morelense store in Wickes.  Polk County officers noticed several cartons of cigarettes in the suspect vehicle.  Sheriff Godfrey called Howard County S.O. to find out if we had any reports of cigarettes stolen from our county. 

The three subjects arrested in Polk County are as follows:

Heath Sanders w/m 19 years of age from Russellville, Ar.

Jessie A.V. Heath w/m 22 years of age from Mena, Ar.

Jessica Jane McDaniel w/f 18 years of age from Mena, Ar.

Two of the three subjects have admitted to breaking into the store in Umpire.  All three subjects are in the Polk County jail on felony charges.  Charges will be filed in Howard County against the subjects for Burglary and Theft of Property.
