2013 comes with challenges

As we begin another new year at the Howard County Sheriff’s Office we face many challenges.   Howard County like every other county has problems with illegal and prescription drugs.  Our officers work with city, state and federal officers to try to stop the drug problem in our county.  Almost every week deputies arrest someone for possessing, using, delivering or manufacturing some type of illegal drug.  Most of our property crimes are a result of the drug problem.   Crimes involving juveniles are increasing every year.  The cost to incarcerate a juvenile is very expensive.  The nearest juvenile lock up to Howard County is in Miller County.  I hope that the citizens of Howard County will continue to provide us with useful information concerning any illegal activity that you are aware of.  It takes us all working together to make our county safer.

As your sheriff I want the Howard County Sheriff’s Department officers to be professional, courteous, and well trained while performing their duties serving the citizens of Howard County.  It is our mission to prevent criminal activity from occurring in our county.  Thank you for your continued support for law enforcement in Howard County.
