02/13/2012 Deputies make drug arrest on U.S. Hwy. 70 west of Dierks |

On February 11, 2012 at approximately 8:46 P.M. Deputy Travis Turner was patrolling on Hwy. 70 west of Dierks. Deputy Turner observed a gray Ford truck cross the center line and he performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. Deputy Turner noticed the occupants moving around inside the vehicle like they were trying to hide something. Deputy Turner called for Deputy Steven Wakefield to come and assist him. The driver of the vehicle gave deputies consent to search the vehicle. The driver, Rebekah Ward, and the passenger, April Ward, both exited the vehicle. Deputy Wakefield conducted a pat down on the driver and found a syringe in her right front jacket pocket. Deputies observed the passenger pushing a small bag down her pants. Deputies seized the bag which contained marijuana. Deputies also found another syringe, methamphetamine and some pills. Rebekah Ward w/f age 54 of 1813 Constitution #A Ashdown, Ar. is charged with: Possession of a Controlled Substance--Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
April L. Ward w/f age 29 of 507 Holly Avenue Dierks, Ar. is charged with: Possession of a Controlled Substance--Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Prescription Pills and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Both subjects remain in the Howard County Jail pending formal charges.
