Deputies Complete "Active Shooter" Training

Howard County Deputies completed a 26 hour course at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden.  Todd Tallant and Jade Hughes completed the advanced training course certified through Arkansas Standards on Law Enforcement Training.  The course trained law enforcement on up-to-date tactics that are best suited for handling active shooting incidents with mass victims.  These incidents are most common in schools, shopping areas, factories, and places of business.  Todd and Jade are certified law enforcement instructors and on the Howard County SWAT team.  They will pass this training on to other officers in the county to help prepare law enforcement in Howard County to respond to these tragic situations.

“We pray to go a lifetime and never have the need to employ these tactics, but we don’t want to wait until something bad happens and then come up with a plan”.  “The sheriff’s department plans to take an active role in preventing these types of situations in our counties schools”.
