On May 25, 2014 at 10:45 P.M. Deputy Steven Wakefield was patrolling on S.H. 355 near the Barton Bethel Road when he observed a white Chevrolet Tahoe going around a curve and the driver’s side door came open.  Deputy Wakefield stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Latre S. Richards b/m 10/8/1979 of 216 Graves Chapel Road Lockesburg, Ar.  Deputy Wakefield could smell an intoxicant on Richards breath.   Richards advised Deputy Wakefield that he had been to Texarkana to a bar and had been drinking beer.  Deputy Wakefield asked Richards to exit the vehicle and he advised Richards that he was going to search the vehicle.  Richards told Deputy Wakefield that he had some illegal drugs in the vehicle.  Deputy Wakefield found a syringe and a clear plastic bag with suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle.  Deputy Wakefield arrested Latre Richards for Possession of a Controlled Substance: Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and transported him to the Howard County Jail.  No bond has been at this time.
