On September 20, 2014 at 9:50 A.M. the Howard County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call concerning an apparent suicide.  Deputies Todd Tallant, Jade Hughes and Investigator David Shelton along with EMS and the Howard County Coroner responded to the call on Hickory Grove Cemetery Road.  Officers talked to Alan Parson who had found his father Alton Parson w/m dob-1/15/1944 of 586 Blue Bayou Road dead in a vehicle.  Alton Parson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Howard County Coroner John Gray.  Alton Parson died from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
